At Pahtia Counseling we are rooted in depth-oriented, relational, psychodynamic therapy. Our clinicians integrate somatic, emotionally focused, and attachment-based therapies. We encourage each clinician to explore modalities that work for their individual style while being grounded in relational and emotional depth.

We look for applicants who are open to learning, growth, and adaptability. At Pahtia Counseling Center, we value clinicians who are committed not only to developing their clinical skills but also to ongoing personal growth. Private practice invites a level of self-awareness and relational presence that supports meaningful connections with clients and the ability to thoughtfully represent one’s work.
On-site supervision is provided through our clinical director. Applicants are required to make a minimum 6-month commitment, but we are always open to having applicants stay with us throughout their program.
We only accept graduate interns starting their practicum/internship during the fall or spring semester.
The deadline to apply for the fall semester is April 15th of the same year.
The deadline to apply for the spring semester is November 15th of the previous year.
eg, Applicant starting practicum Fall 2027 must apply by April 15, 2027. Applicants starting practicum Spring 2027 must apply by November 15th, 2026.

what’s makes Pahtia different
Pahtia Counseling Center was born from the shared vision of two helpers committed to building a depth-oriented, accessible private practice for individuals and families. Sidu, drawing on experience in educational systems and community agencies, recognized a gap in the care available to many. Where meaningful, insight-driven therapy is often out of reach, and support tends to focus only on immediate concerns rather than deeper, lasting change. This awareness shaped a commitment to creating a space where thoughtful, compassionate care is available to those seeking more than surface-level solutions.
Alongside this vision, Joshua was inspired by firsthand experience within a private practice that emphasized growth, mentorship, and high-quality care. Through that experience, a desire emerged to cultivate a practice that not only serves clients well but also invests in therapists’ development by fostering a community grounded in integrity, learning, and genuine connection.
Together, their mission is to bridge the gap in mental health care by offering therapy that is both accessible and deeply attuned to each individual’s needs, while also nurturing the next generation of clinicians.
