 FAQs

  • While each therapist will bring their own unique approach to their work, at Pahtia Counseling, we are rooted in a relational, psychodynamic approach. Our therapists work with individuals, children, couples, families, and groups. We utilize skills from a diverse range of therapeutic modalities, such as CBT, DBT, ACT, play therapy and trauma-informed care. Whether meeting in person or virtually, you can expect meaningful and competent support.

  • The question of whether you should begin therapy or not is one that only you can answer. Therapy is for people who feel interested in therapy, either out of need or desire. Therapy works when the client is committed, and willing to do the work. If you feel curious about beginning your therapy journey feel free to reach out and see if it’s right for you.

  • Oftentimes someone chooses a therapist because they know that specific therapist specializes in something they want to work on, like anxiety, an eating disorder, or even dreams, for example. Other times it’s much more practical, like are they near me? Or do I like their bio picture? A good therapeutic fit is necessary for therapy to be successful. Clients are always encouraged to be honest with their therapists about how they feel therapy is going, and if they’re unsatisfied or wish to try someone else.

  • At Pahtia Counseling, we serve a diverse range of clients seeking support for various mental health challenges. Our typical clients include individuals grappling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and trauma, as well as those exploring their identity and personal growth. We also work with couples, children and families aiming to strengthen their connections and navigate conflicts. Our inclusive approach ensures that everyone, regardless of background, can find the support they need to achieve lasting change and improved well-being.

  • At Pahtia Counseling, each therapy session typically lasts 50 minutes. The total number of sessions within a treatment varies upon the individual and their needs. Sometimes, a few sessions is all that’s needed. More often than not we recommend an initial commitment of at least 15-25 sessions to foster meaningful, lasting change.

  • While there are a few exceptions to this that could be discussed in either an initial session or a brief consultation, yes, what you and your therapist discuss together will be strictly confidential.

  • We recognize that therapy can be costly and is a financial commitment. At Pahtia Counseling, each therapist sets their own rate, but you can expect the range to be somewhere between $50 per session to $200.

  • At Pahtia Counseling, we do not accept insurance. This allows us to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and focus on providing personalized care tailored to your unique needs without the constraints of insurance requirements.

  • While we don’t bill insurance directly, we can provide you with superbills that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. This means you can still take advantage of your out-of-network benefits while receiving the personalized therapy you deserve without the limitations of in-network providers.
