Group Therapy

Being in group provides a unique experience where we can explore our thoughts, feelings, and relationships with others. In group, we grow in self-awareness, practice new ways of relating, and receive valuable feedback in real-time. This lively and shared experience fosters insight and connection, helping you address challenges, build resilience, and grow emotionally in a way that’s not possible alone.

What is group like and how can it benefit me?

All groups look different, depending on their participants and their purpose. Interpersonal process groups are a lively, interactive experience where group members explore their thoughts and feelings in real-time, as they relate to each other. Groups are facilitated by an experienced therapist who’s role it is to cultivate aliveness and emotional authenticity among group members. Some benefits of group would be an increase of self-understanding, higher proficiency of emotional expression, and deep and meaningful relationships.

A Mindful Approach to Anger Group

Anger is a necessary emotion but many of us didn’t learn that anger was a safe and may find ourselves exploding or imploding on others or ourselves. Our Mindful Approach to Anger Group (MATA), led by Pahtia Counseling staff offers a compassionate and contained space to explore your most challenging emotions and learn how to manage them so you can engage in life in a way that feels authentic to you. Participants will have the opportunity to connect with others and practice interpersonal relational skills.

BIPOC Process Group

This group aims to provide a platform for individuals who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) to share their stories and perspectives within a culturally affirming environment. Participants can explore topics (but are not limited to) such as race, ethnicity, identity, and intergenerational trauma without fear of judgment or misunderstanding. Our BIPOC therapy group, will be lead by Pathia Counseling Center Practicum student, Noemi Balderas.

Raising a Family Group for Parents

Raising a family is anything but easy! From navigating toddler tantrums, to staying connected to your unruly teen. We are bombarded with scripts, lists, and everyone telling us what to do and in the end we are left stressed and disconnected from ourselves and our families. Our Raising a Family therapy group for parents, co-led by Sidu Arroyo-Boulter, LPC and our Practicum students, offers a safe space to process the joys and difficulties of raising a family and gain clarification on your family values. All family welcome.
